Summary: | A wideband low‐profile miniaturized segmented loop antenna is proposed in this letter. The antenna consists of a segmented loop comprising 4 segments with stubs, a shorting strip, and a patch element. The antenna is miniaturized by reducing the number of segments and by adding stubs. At 956 MHz, the antenna has an improved impedance matching by using the shorting strip, and an omnidirectional radiation due to coupling between the overlapping areas of the segments placed on the top and bottom of the substrate. In the high frequency band, the antenna has a wide −10 dB reflection coefficient bandwidth covering 3700 MHz WiMAX, 5200 MHz WLAN, and 5800 MHz WLAN with a quasi‐omnidirectional radiation characteristic. |
