Description
Summary:This article addresses the issue of non-EU student-migrant-workers in Finland drawing on data from in-depth interviews conducted with the sub-Saharan African migrants on student visa. The migrants’ experiences of temporal limits in life and at work are examined demonstrating that student-migrant-workers have experiences of a fragmented lived time because of the temporary character of their visa. The article consequently points at the impact of student visa in creating a low-cost labour force in Finland and sheds light on the subject position of the student-migrant-worker that becomes utilisable in contemporary capitalism.
