Summary: | Northwest River Supplies (NRS) delivers white water rafting equipment and supplies to consumers through mail order. A recent redesign of NRS' existing information system was undertaken due to continual increases in sales. Automation of the vendor minimum requirements will enhance processing speed related to inventory since the need to access manually the information in the physical vendor file will be eliminated. Automation and integration of online purchase orders will eliminate the need for photocopied purchase orders. Most of the changes will occur in the inventory control function. One change in the inventory control department centers on the updating of the original purchase order hard copy. Instead of recording each partial or complete receiving on the hard copy, a receiving history file will be maintained and updated by the system each time a purchase order is received. |
