Summary: | Between August 3, 1992, and February 1, 1993, interested parties were encouraged to submit comments to OSHA concerning the need for, content and scope of an ergonomics safety and health management regulation. Some 269 responses were received. Based on review and analysis, respondents to OSHA's Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking moderately support the proposed ergonomics standard and advocate progressing with the rule making process. The 6 respondent groups identified can be classified according to their level of support as: 1. one strongly supportive group (unions), 2. tow moderately supportive groups (professionals and researchers, individuals), 3. two neutral groups (manufacturing and business), and 4. one moderately opposed group (trade associations). |
