Summary:Mori Arts Centre Gallery, Tokyo; Knowledge Capital (Gran Front Osaka North Building), Osaka; Fukuoka City Asian Art Museum, Fukuoka; and Matsuzakaya Art Museum, Nagoya Who imagined that one day the words "Louvre" and "manga" would sit together in a sentence? The museum organized various projects involving various contemporary artists such as Roy Lichtenstein (2000), Anselm Kiefer (2007), and Cy Twombly (2010), and as a part of this new trend, its manga commissioning project was launched. Since the first commission, Nicolas de Crécy's Periode glaciaire (Glacial Period), 12 works have been commissioned and published. All the other stories associated with the exhibition are told in relation to the number nine: manga as the ninth art, nine famous spots in the Louvre, nine masterpieces in the Louvre, nine differences between manga and bande dessinée.
