Summary: | Steady perturbations introduced into a temperature-stratified fluid binary mixture, such as saline water, by inhomogeneous tangent stresses on its surface have been studied in a linear approximation. It has been shown that thermodiffusion may greatly increase the depth of thermal perturbation penetration into the medium despite the stable background density stratification. |
