DOSE DEPENDENT EFFECT OF INTRAVENOUS FENTANYL ADMINISTRATION ON TICAGRELOR ABSORPTION AND PLATELET INHIBITION IN PATIENTS RECEIVING PERCUTANEOUS CORONARY INTERVENTION: A SECONDARY-ANALYSIS OF THE PACIFY RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL

Summary: | Platelet function was measured at 2 hours using VerifyNow (Platelet Reactivity Units, PRU) and light-transmission aggregometry (measuring ADP-induced platelet aggregation). The lower dose fentanyl group also appeared to have more pronounced platelet inhibition by PRUs, though these results were not significant (84 vs 119, p=0.11) In linear regression analyses, for every unit increase in procedural fentanyl dose, there was a 33 unit increase in PRU (p=0.03) and a 11% increase in ADP-induced platelet aggregation (p=0.01). |
