COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF VARC-2 AND BARC BLEEDING CRITERIA IN PREDICTING CLINICAL OUTCOMES AFTER TRANSCATHETER AORTIC VALVE REPLACEMENT

Background Bleeding after cardiac procedures may be classified using Valve Academic Research Consortium (VARC-2) or Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) criteria. In-hospital mortality, 30-day mortality, LOS, ICU LOS, and the risk of being discharge to a location other than home gradually in...

Description
Summary:Background Bleeding after cardiac procedures may be classified using Valve Academic Research Consortium (VARC-2) or Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) criteria. In-hospital mortality, 30-day mortality, LOS, ICU LOS, and the risk of being discharge to a location other than home gradually increased with the severity of bleeding by both VARC-2 and BARC criteria, though the latter showed greater granularity (Table 1) Conclusion Both VARC-2 and BARC criteria may be used to stratify severity of bleeding after TAVR and predict outcomes.
