Description
Summary:In the majority of patients with ATTR cardiomyopathy death is due to progressive cardiac failure from restrictive cardiomyopathy. Since TTR is synthesized primarily by the liver reducing hepatic production of TTR, the substrate for amyloid fibril formation, is a logical way to inhibit progression of ATTR. Conclusion Treatment to decrease availability of amyloid fibril substrate has been an effective treatment for AL (Ig light chain) and AA (reactive) amyloidosis.
