Summary:Aromatic polybenzimidazoles are synthesized via cyclopolycondensation of bis(arylene)hydroxamic acids with 4,4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate and the structure of polymers is confirmed by the data of elemental analysis, IR and PMR spectroscopy. The properties of the obtained polymers are comparable to the characteristics of aromatic polybenzimidazoles prepared via the conventional scheme on the basis of о -phenylenediamines and dicarboxylic acids.
