Summary: | A one‐pot synthesis of 4‐quinolones starting from indoles is disclosed. This cascade reaction involves a photocatalytic aerobic oxidation of indoles using visible light and a subsequent base‐promoted Camps cyclization. The advantages of the present protocol include the use of environmentally benign and inexpensive oxygen as the sole oxidant, easy handling at room temperature, as well as step‐ and atom‐economy.
I have a blue house with a blue LED: A facile and mild synthesis of 4‐quinolones through ring‐expansion reaction of indoles with aerobic visible light photocatalysis is described. |
