Summary: | An abstract of the study by Ikeda et al screening for compounds that induced apoptosis selectively in β-catenin mutated tumor cells is presented. In this study, they screened more than 2,000 microbial extracts for the compounds that induced apoptosis in β-catenin mutated HCT116 cells, but not in A375 cells harboring wild type β-catenin. Results, they found one streptomyces strain produced such active compound. Furthermore, V-ATPase inhibitors induced apoptosis selectively in β-catenin mutated tumor cell lines. |
