Description
Summary:This paper describes the Albatross III system. The Albatross III is a WWW-based course support system that combines the Web technologies, computer networks, and the database: all course materials, learning paths, and learning profiles are recorded in the database and file system located at virtual classroom control center. Learners can access course materials via the computer networks through a Web browser. Instructors can modify these materials through CPMS and trace learning profiles through a Web browser. This research first looked at the course management problems that have arisen in the practical operation of Albatross II, since its inception four years ago in 1996, indicating new systemic needs that accord with future development trends. In the later sections set about designing system architecture of Albatross III and implementing it based on the SPSM development methodology.
