Summary: | An abstract of a study by Mirsaev et al postulating that correction of homeostatic disturbances might improve the clinical outcome of patients with syringomyelia is presented. The study authors compared, in a controlled study, two glycosaminoglycan- containing drugs, Alflutop and Dona, and found the effects of Aflutop to be more significant and long-lasting. These include correction of glycosaminoglycan levels in blood serum and urine, stabilization of neurological status and sometimes reversing neurological symptoms and spinal cord cavities. |
