Summary: | The field of personnel research has been stimulated by passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which offers researchers an opportunity to respond to a social need. Research issues concerning personnel selection include legal issues, job analysis, predictors and how they are measured, criterion issues, validity, meta-analysis, minimum scores and appointment methods. Disturbing trends in the field include use of students in personnel research and a failure to appreciate the limits of meta-analysis. More research is needed on group performance and on applicant reactions to personnel procedures. |
