Description
Summary:This article analyses historical thought from a local perspective as proposed by Jaime Jaramillo Uribe. In his work, the historian, known as the father of Nueva Historia en Colombia, covered the cities of Pereira and Bogotá (Colombia) in the 1960s and 1980s. An experience that helps us to understand a way to do local history when doing history was turning professional. I intend to consider his hypotheses and conjectures around the social and cultural spheres of the inhabitants of Pereira and Bogotá, as well as his sources of inspiration referenced in previous studies. I especially consider the use he makes of primary information. Seen from the uniqueness of this historian, I believe that it is important to warn that his contribution is limited inasmuch as the number of contributions and their subsequent impact. I also intend to offer a comprehensive and descriptive essay, with a diffusionist approach, on a means of narrating history, which is becoming increasingly relevant among professional historians.
