Summary: | The integration of decision analysis and expert system technology has not yet been sufficiently accomplished. For example, knowledge-based systems often lack sophisticated abilities with respect to explicitly formulating needs of users, e.g. preference modelling. An approach is presented that offers a broad range of applications but is aimed particularly at those in which the user's objective is not easily identified. Applications for machine scheduling and environmental risk assessment are outlined. Descriptions are offered of how identifying and continuously updating user preferences can be formally established. |
