description New data on the geological structure of the upper part of the Sortavala volcanic section are presented. Deposition of the Sortavala volcanosedimentary complex, its metamorphism, erosion, and unconformable overlapping by Ladoga quartzites and arkosic sandstones predated the Svecofennian subduction in the pericraton zone.
