Summary: | The terminal Late Pleistocene, which was characterized by short period climate fluctuations, is an important epoch in the development of landscapes, when alternating significant warming and cooling episodes resulted in transformation of landscapes that existed during the last glacial epoch into their interglacial counterparts. The general trend of climate fluctuations and paleo-landscape changes during the Pleistocene-Holocene transitional period are well studied for Eastern Europe and Siberia. At the same time, in the Far East, only single thoroughly studied and reliably dated sections of coeval sediments are known. |
