Summary: | During the last twenty years a large body of material on estimation of the redox state of harzburgite-lherzolite series (HLS) by modern methods of oxythermobarometry has been accumulated. These series are abundant in different tectonic environments of continents and oceans, namely in massifs of root zones, ophiolites, mid-ocean ridges, and transform faults, and they compose xenoliths in alkaline volcanic rocks and kimberlite as well. |
