Implications of Quaternary volcanism at Cerro Tuzgle for crustal and mantle evolution of the Puna Plateau, Central Andes, Argentina

A geochemical and petologic study of the intraplate-like Tuzgle volcanic center on the eastern Puna plateau is described. The complex source regions and mixing processes required at Tuzgle were analyzed in light of the Late Miocene to Quaternary tectonic history of the Puna.
