Description
Summary:The results are presented from experimental studies of the concentration and temperature dependences of the surface tension of aqueous suspensions of bentonites. The studies are conducted using the hanging drop method on a DSA-100 tensiometer. The maximum error of measuring surface tension is 1%. A chemical analysis of samples of the studied bentonites is performed. An attempt is made to explain the nature of the minimum in the isotherms of surface tension of the suspension in terms of the spatial orientation of nanoparticles in the surface layer.
