Summary:A number of 6-aryl-6H-chromeno[4’,3’:4,5][1,3]thiazolo[3,2-a]benzimidazole derivatives were synthesised by the reaction of 2-aryl-3-nitro-2H-chromenes with 1H-benzimidazole-2-thiol in the presence of Cu(OAc)2•H2O in moderate yields via successive C-N and C-S bond formations. The structures of all the products were characterised thoroughly by NMR and HRMS spectroscopy together with X-ray crystallographic analysis.
