Summary: | This is the second article in a series of articles published with findings on student perceptions of asynchronous web-based courses (Perez Cereijo, Young, & Wilhelm, 2001). This portion of the study examines the independent relationships between various student characteristics and student's perceived advantages and disadvantages of the asynchronous web delivery of the course and seeks to find a predictor that will help determine students most likely to enjoy taking asynchronous courses online. In the asynchronous web delivery format of this course, students had access to the class's lecture videos and textual course materials stored in the school's server, at any time and from anywhere. The data presented in this study provides supporting evidence, which reaffirms universities' commitment to offering online courses to meet students' needs. The study also points to attitude, work schedule, and distance from school as possible predictors of student success in this environment. |
