Summary: | Computer-controlled data acquisition is rapidly becoming the rule rather than the exception in chemistry laboratories. The LabWorks learning system is one of many computer-controlled data acquisition interfaces that allows students to quickly obtain and analyze chemistry data. This project involved adapting a classic physical chemistry experiment to using this modern data acquisition and analysis system. Heat capacities were measured for argon, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide gases using a fixed-length Kundt's tube. Measured heat capacities were determined to be within 4% of accepted values. |
