Summary: | Currently in the United States it has been estimated that 10-12,000
robots are utilised in larger corporations. Future predictions calculate
that within five to seven years up to 100,000 robots may be in use in
the US alone. It was predicted that by 1990 more than 50,000 new jobs
would be created in making and maintaining robots in good condition.
With such a dramatic increase in the use of robotics technology,
enterprises must acknowledge the future implications of such advancement
on both management and employees. The purpose is to test the strategic
application of robotics technology, why it should be used extensively in
the future, the fear of unemployment due to the robots, and the
reorganisation of traditional management practices as a result of new
technological advances. Also the application of such technology in the
developed and developing countries is discussed. |
