Summary: | Selecting the right accounting software is critical to any business. A wrong choice could mean incompatibility problems, functional limitations, and frustration, as well as unhappy workers and customers, the right choice means that a business can focus on the products or services that are important to is core business model. In a 2007 study of software user satisfaction, the authors surveyed 57 members of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) to determine which accounting software packages companies were using, which actors and features were most important in selecting accounting software, which factors users were most satisfied and dissatisfied with, and which factors influenced their decisions to retain or change software. Participants were contacted through a mass e-mailing by the IMA to members with supervisory accounting or finance job descriptions. The functionality/capability category of software was considered most important in software selection. Users were also surveyed to better understand which features they are most satisfied with in their current software. |
