Summary:In this study, sugar was extracted from the of core oil palm trunk (OPT) and undergoes methanolysis process. The objective of this research is to study the production of methyl levulinate (MLA) and hydroxymethyl furfurals (HMF) from four different parts of OPT such as inner, middle, outer and whole. After methanolysis, samples were characterized by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
