description A novel single L‐shaped open‐end slot antenna for octa‐band metallic frame smartphones is presented. The antenna mainly comprises an L‐shaped open slot and a simple LC circuit. According to the proposed feeding arrangement, the antenna can cover all dual‐wideband LTE/WWAN operations at 698‐960 MHz and 1710‐2690 MHz. A prototype antenna is manufactured and tested. Experimental results such as return loss, radiation patterns, and radiation efficiencies are also presented.
