Summary:Bagley describes MTV's television program "The Real World." The program's manner of presentation critically determines its acceptance as faithful documentation of material existence. Though one's awareness of production strategies, such as natural lightning and radical camera moves, does little to resolve the question of the program's apparently schizophrenic identity, there can be no mistaking that such production practices perpetuate the idea that these scenes are most likely the product of objective observation.
