Summary: | Approximately 50 per cent are bilateral and are accompanied by aortic or femoral aneurysms.2 The traditional surgical treatment of PAA involves exclusion of the aneurysm and revascularization of the distal extremity to prevent thrombus with resultant acute limb threatening ischemia. Recent reports have used stent grafts for elective exclusion of PAA in asymptomatic patients with PAA > 2 cm, as well as symptomatic patients secondary to emboli, thrombus, and popliteal vein compression.4 One week before presentation to our facility, a 61year-old male with unilateral leg edema and pain was diagnosed with deep venous thrombosis and was started on low molecular weight heparin and warfarin. |
