Summary: | In the past few years, the use of a statistical equilibrium model based on the chemical potential to reproduce the isotopic yields of ternary fission fragments gave fairly good results but failed to characterize fragments with a mass higher than l5, for which the model highly overestimates the yields. The addition of a time-moderated-nucleation process to the model greatly improved the agreement with experimental data especially for those heavy fragments. In the present work, we apply the same approach to fragments coming from the mid-rapidity source in peripheral and mid-peripheral 124Sn+112, 124Sn collisions at 26A MeV. The fitting procedure results in a good agreement between the results of the calculation and experimental data with realistic parameter values, suggesting a statistical equilibrium nucleation based process in the cluster formation inside the mid-rapidity region. |
