Summary: | ZnO thin film has been synthesized on FTO/SiO2 substrate by sol-gel method. The starting material consist of zinc acetate dehydrate (precursor), isopropanol (solvent) and monoethanolamine (stabilizer) were synthesized to produce a ZnO sol-gel in concentration ranging from 0.2 to 0.6 M. The sol gel was deposited onto substrate by spin coating technique at 3000 rpm and annealed at 450°C. The structural and optical properties of the films were characterized by SEM, XRD and UV-Vis. In general, the XRD and SEM analysis confirmed that the thin films grown have good crystalline hexagonal wurzite structure and homogenous surfaces. Uniform grain growth was observed on the films. The optical absorbance of the deposited films are seen having strong absorption at wavelength ranging from 350 to 390 nm, with 0.6M seed concentration having the highest absorbance. |
