description Mathematics curriculum emphasizes mathematical concepts, basic mathematical operations, the relations between them and the mathematical meanings of these processes. One of the most effective ways to effectively increase the mathematical under-standing of the students is example generation activities. The example generation is a remarkable activity in mathematics education as well as in daily life. There are a number of literature studies showing how the example generation activity affects activities in-class practice. The aim of this study is to examine the generating example types used by high school students. The research is designed in the case study pattern from qualitative research patterns. The data of the study were collected from high school students’ the study papers with the example generation activities and the data in the working papers were analyzed by content analysis. At the end of the research, it was determined which example types was used most by students in the example generation activities. Based on the results, it was found that the high school students were generally unsuccessful in the example generation activities and they usually came up with the same example given initial.
