Summary: | The 20th anniversary edition of Sexualities prompts a question: What is the relationship today between critical studies of sexuality and ideas of progress and sexual justice? The answer is not straightforward in the way it seemed to be in the early days of sex research. Sexual studies, many complain, have become battlegrounds of ideas long detached from any but the most etiolated of practice. The convolutions of queer theory offer the classic example. |
