Summary: | The precedence diagram is a very powerful tool for production planning and control. From the Fraunhofer-Institute of Industrial Engineering (Stuttgart, Germany) it is used for designing production in systems as well for computerized assembly line balancing.
Structuring the diagram as well as collecting the supplementary information is very timeconsuming. Therefore efforts have been made in order to reduce these tasks. It was found that more than 70% of the information of the precedence diagram is already aggregated within an production oriented bill of materials.
Therefore a computerized method was designed in order to take advantage of this information. The paper describes and evaluates this method and indicates some applications. |
