Description
Summary:Pavement management and maintenance financing are essential steps in road maintenance process. For a nation with numerous demands for limited resources, a pavement management system is an important tool to coordinate the allocation of limited funds. Experience gained in Finland during this development process has shown its important effects on the administration's general knowledge of economical decision-making, budgeting and resource allocation. By using this type of standardized tool, the Finnish National Roads Administration has been able to show the importance of adequate funding on road conditions. This successful history of pavement management implementation has encouraged FinnRA to develop a similar system for bridges. In addition, the national power company has been developing a management system for power transmission lines and electrical stations.
