Summary:The evaluation and improvement of curriculum in science requires reliable, comparable data on the degree of consistency versus variation in science subject content taught and classroom practices used. A new approach titled Surveys of Enacted Curriculum was developed by researchers under the direction Rolf Blank, Andrew Porter, and John Smithson to analyze and improve instruction and was field tested and improved with the help of science and math teachers from hundreds of U S schools.
