A feasible method for the estimation of the interval bounds based on strain-life fatigue data is presented. The deviation from each point to the traditional fitting line is considered as the fatigue uncertainty. With groups of different test data points, new strain-life lines are fitted and the expand-root-mean-square-error is introduced as the index of grouped data points. The interval bounds are represented by the covered range of all these lines. Accordingly, the modified interval bounds of four strain-life parameters are obtained. Finally, the fatigue tests on a few samples of three materials are given as examples to show the effectiveness of the method. |
