Level shift operator and second order perturbation theory

We give approximate formulas for spectrum and the corresponding spectral projections of perturbed linear operators. The main tool is the so-called level shift operator, which expresses the effects of second order perturbation theory on the point spectrum. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
