An Algorithm for Curve Identification in the Presence of Curve Intersections

In the paper, a simple but effective algorithm is proposed to solve the problem of curve identification in the presence of curve intersections. The problem is motivated by the fact that, in several engineering problems, one has to deal with samples of possibly intersecting curves, and a successful i...

description In the paper, a simple but effective algorithm is proposed to solve the problem of curve identification in the presence of curve intersections. The problem is motivated by the fact that, in several engineering problems, one has to deal with samples of possibly intersecting curves, and a successful identification can significantly improve their visualization through a successive function interpolation step. Numerical results are presented, together with possible areas of application of the algorithm.
