Description
Summary:Community practice, which considers the community as a means and focus of practice, has been a significant aspect of the field of social work throughout its first century (1917–2017). In this article, we focus on the development of community practice in social work over time, identify enduring themes in the trends and issues faced by this method, and discuss what directions it may take in the future. As social workers working across methods, we view community practice as a significant focus for our field that will only grow in importance if we invest resources for its further development.
