Description
Summary:With a cognitive orientation, audit analytical review is characterized as a diagnostic, sequential, and iterative (DSI) process. The analysis should allow both academics and practitioners to better understand the process of audit analytical review and to more fully appreciate its significant cognitive components. Analytical review is sequential since the auditor must acquire sufficient information to identify an unexpected fluctuation before generating potential causes for an observed fluctuation. The task is iterative since the auditor may re-perform components. In a discussion paper, Walker notes that background and examples from the literature would be beneficial for the reader of Koonce's analysis. Wright determines 4 relevant criteria for evaluating Koonce's paper: organizing framework, quality of the literature analysis, use of a fundamental discipline, and insights for future research.
