Summary:In the search for intoxication, alcoholic patients often ingest toxic alcohols or other products containing ethanol. We report a patient who presented with intoxication from Listerine and rapidly progressed to cardiac asystole. Several mouthwash products have a high concentration of ethanol and are easily obtained. We review the contents of this product and their possible toxicologic effects.
