Summary:Objective: To evaluate the quality of life related to health of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus served by Primary Health. Methods: Descriptive transversal study performed with 50 diabetic patients. Data were collected through the application of a form for socioeconomic and clinical information and the Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). Data were expressed as absolute and relative frequencies and central tendency and dispersion steps. Results: The highest average of the SF-36 scores were found in the areas “Functional Capacity, Vitality and Social Aspects”, while the lowest were concentrated in areas “General State of Health and Physical Appearance.” Conclusion: The functionality of daily activities and perception of health were the main factors committed by the type 2 diabetes mellitus.
