Description
Summary:•Vitrocrystalline foams were successfully produced from recycled glass bottles.•The production of vitrocrystalline foams is an environmentally responsible way for glass and EPS powder beads recycling.•EPS powder beads (10–40 vol.%) were used as pore former to tailoring the porosity (72 up to 90%) of the foams.•Vitrocrystalline foams exhibiting expressive compressive strength ∼2.75 MPa were manufactured.•Samples with suitable thermal conductivity ∼0.06 W/m·K for thermal insulation application were obtained. In this work, discarded soda-lime-silica glasses (from glass bottles) and expandable Styrofoam, EPS (d50
