Description
Summary:An abstract of a study by Brown et al describing some of the ethical dilemmas encountered by registered dietitians in clinical practice, their roles as bioethics committee members or consultants, and comparing these RDs to Bradley's 1993 model of advanced-level dietetics practice, is presented. Results show that participants achieved many of Bradley's advanced-level practice characteristics and demonstrated an expert knowledge base, complex decision-making skills, expanded practice, and high level of autonomy and responsibility. RDs expressed interest in expanded opportunities for education in bioethics.
