Summary: | In response to Frederick Hess' What Is a 'Public School?': Principles for a New Century, Nathan questions Hess' interest in strengthening public education. While there are points on which they can agree such as the calling for more innovation in public school education, there are some points that Nathan argues. Among the things she points out is Hess' labored analysis, which obscures a simple fact: public schools have a larger and more democratic purpose than private and parochial schools. |
