Description
Summary:This paper presents the results of numerical tests, which aimed at the verification of the relationship between the tearing force of the paint coating and the thickness of the substrate, occurring during the adherence test of coatings using the pull-off method. The statistical analysis covered a series of plates made of non-alloy steel, grade S235JRG2, with a thickness from 2 to 16 mm, covered with one-component alkyd paint. In numerical simulations, the occurrence of deformations in the steel substrate and the stress state found in the stamp-steel plate system was determined. The calculations made it possible to better understand the mechanism of the detachment of the coating from the substrate and showed that there is a correlation between the value of the applied tearing force, the thickness of the steel plate and the maximum strain occurring in the combination of the stamp and the plate.
