Summary: | Since 1994, the people at Kanbay Resources, Inc. realized it was necessary to create a model that encompasses a comprehensive set of dynamics, aligned with the self-managed teams (SMT) objectives, to ensure that the company continues to maintain its focus, aggressive growth, and profitability. The model is called the Globally Elegant Organization (GEO). The 5 model categories of the GEO system include: 1. mission: value-added service, 2. leadership: responsible stewardship, 3. learning environment, 4. participatory culture rich in diversity, and 5. individual fulfillment. The SMTs are based on the assumption that a successful organization networks thinking individuals in a manner that elicits a level of corporate creativity that is greater than the sum of each individual's creativity. Some areas of SMTs discussed involve: 1. early benchmarks and learning, 2. uneven early team performance, 3. financial knowledge, 4. compensation reinforcements, and 5. cost of start up to revenue expectations. |
